Here's a video update of some prototyping today.
The strategy is to avoid dealing direct with high-current mains by using a self-contained remote control switching unit. I've done this previously on Curiosity Collective projects, but Dave did the soldering which is incredibly fiddly.
I'd love to find an easier way to do this altogether. Turns out there are at least two completely different internal boards for these remotes. I may try to wire up the alternate design which showed up in the second remote to see if it's easier. I doubt it.
Next up to see if the safety equipment detects the event I'm hoping for.
Had 6 days paid work rammed into my schedule in the last week. Shouldn't complain, but taken alongside completing my girlfriend's paragliding pilot certification, driving from Manchester to Cardiff and having the mobile lab pulled out from icy stranding not once but twice, I've had very little time to do anything on #project2.
